As previously mentioned the Joeys feature 6 nominees (nominees also up for the Emmy are italicized) & I will also predict the winner of each category for the Emmys. Without further ado...
Josh Holloway (Sawyer, "Lost")-Holloway brought his performance to another level in the last 2 seasons of "Lost" as Sawyer became the leader of the castaways, along with Jack. Holloway earns this nomination for showing Sawyer's heartbreak over Juliet's death & his portrayal of shock & joy at reuniting with her in the sideways universe.
Michael B. Jordan (Vince, "Friday Night Lights")-The character of Vince could've easily become a cliche, a troubled black kid from the inner city with no dad & a junky for a mom, but Jordan was up to the task of making Vince into a full formed person. He completely sold Vince's evolution into a leader on the football field & a much better person off it.
Vinctent Kartheiser (Pete Campbell, "Mad Men")-Pete Campbell is a slimy little weasel of a man, & Kartheiser fully portrays that & yet he still makes me like & understand Pete-man deserves credit for that.
Terry O'Quinn (Locke/Smocke, "Lost")-O'Quinn, along with Michael Emerson as Ben, gave the best performance of the first 5 seasons playing John Locke. Then in season 5 O'Quinn had to play a completely different character & he nailed it.
Aaron Paul (Jesse, "Breaking Bad")-I don't watch "Breaking Bad" (hopefully this winter I'll find time to netflix it) but my most trusted tv critics (TIME's James Poniewozik, hitfix.com's Alan Sepinwall) both said he gave the best performance of anyone on tv.
John Slattery (Roger Sterling, "Mad Men")-Slattery's Sterling is the wittiest character on the most well written show on television, plus whenever he shares the screen with John Hamm's Don Draper or Christina Hendricks' Joan that scene is an instant classic.
& the Joey goes to... Aaron Paul. I wanted to pick Jordan or O'Quinn, but I've got the feeling that when I get around to watching "Breaking Bad" Paul's going to blow me away.
Update: I finally got around to watching "Breaking Bad" & Paul did indeed blow me away. His final scene of season 3 is gut wrenching.
Emmy Prediction: Terry O'Quinn. He's awesome, & Lost's got to win something. Huh Aaron Paul won, it's rare that the Emmys pick the person critics consider most deserving, good for them/him.
Honorable Mention: Bryan Bratt (Sal, "Mad Men"), Andre Braugher (Owen, "Men of a Certain Age"), Michael Emerson (Ben, "Lost"), Zach Gilford (Matt Saracen, "Friday Night Lights"), Walton Goggins (Boyd Crowder, "Justified), Taylor Kitsch (Tim Riggins, "Friday Night Lights")
