Oregon’s ranked 2nd in total offense & 1st in scoring offense. Auburn’s ranked 7th in total offense & 4th in scoring offense. Each team has been held under 20 points only once. In fact Oregon’s scored at least 37 points in all but one game, though the quality of the defenses they faced were not quite up to those in the SEC. Cam Newton is the highest rated quarterback (in one season) in the history of D-1 Football, while every skill player on Oregon can run a 4.4 forty (fact not verified). Essentially there’s not much to separate these two teams offensively, there both awesome & that’s about all one can say. Defense, however is another matter.
Oregon is ranked 26th in total defense & 12th in scoring defense. Auburn is a less impressive 53rd in total defense & 54th in scoring defense, in addition their pass defense is a horrid 106th. & alas here Auburn can’t complain about having a tougher schedule. Auburn has faced 3 teams in the top 30 in total offense, in those games they gave up an average of 34.7 points. Oregon faced four teams in the top 30 & they gave up 30.8 points per game.
So I’ll take Oregon & their superior defense to win the game & end the SEC’s dominance in BCS “Championship” games.
Oregon 37, Auburn 34
WRONG!!!!!
